I'm a Yoga Teacher and the Founder of AnujaYoga
Anuja is a Yoga and fitness Instructor working in Mumbai, India. An inquisitive extrovert equipped with strong communication skills she strongly believes in being the architect of her own life. With the help of her academic knowledge, experience in the field, and excellence in techniques, she helps students from across the globe and from different walks of life in understanding the importance of Yoga and meditation. The ebb and flow of Anuja’s life journey show how unpredictability can be viewed as a challenge but also as an opportunity to change and grow. Along with being courageous in exploring different career paths she also entails an extreme sense of gratitude for all the opportunities she has received which in turn led to the consistent growth of her public speaking and soft skills. Yoga helps her in retrospection, self-exploration, and reflecting on the positivity of the new chapters in her life. She is highly fascinated by the science and philosophy of one’s existence and how one can inculcate self-introspection with the practice of Yoga. Through her sessions, she aims at inspiring students of all ages to practice Yoga as a lifelong commitment and conquer the power of internalizing one’s life journey.
Anuja considers herself extremely fortunate for having the privilege of working with the best in the industry and as such has acquired a vast and varied work experience which includes working in the Hotel and Airline industry, Counselling for over-seas education, Training professional dancers, Acting for TV and working as a college Lecturer. Her dynamic yet amicable personality makes her a go-getter who strives to walk on the path of excellence which birthed the idea of her entrepreneurial venture of the brand AnujaYoga in 2018. Anuja completed her Yoga Teacher Training at The Yoga Institute, Mumbai in 2014 and has since worked with high-profile clients including Bollywood celebrities, esteemed Multinational Corporations, and the Mumbai Police. She has studied subjects like Anatomy, Exercise Physiology, Musculoskeletal System, and more as a part of her Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) Course at the American College of Sports and Medicine. She has always been drawn towards the dynamism, discipline, and mental training that any sport entails but it was during her CPT course, she realized her interest in the sports industry and so she additionally completed her certification in Sports Psychology and mental training with distinction from ISST, Pune. Her education, experience, career graph, and interest in dance, fitness, and yoga explain how fitting a venture in the sports industry would prove. Her future aspiration is to work with athletes and sports institutions to train them towards betterment. She strives at helping athletes understand the benefits of Yoga in sports performance as well as its effect on one’s physical and mental health in the long term and how sport-specific yoga can be included in an athlete’s fitness program.
As a teacher, Anuja believes in teaching students the art of internalizing and self-introspection with her expertise and experience in understanding body alignment, posture and breath work, and movement. She excels in Hatha yoga, Vinyasa yoga, Tratak yoga, Power Yoga, and meditation and teaches how to integrate the fragmented aspects of mind and body to use them as a whole. She has worked for brands like Cult Fitness, 6262 Fitness, and Shield by Swapneel Hazare and has personally trained many personalities from the entertainment industry like Esha Deol, Liza Ray, Yami Gautam, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Vani Kapoor to name a few. She has also worked as a visiting faculty at the Terence Lewis Professional Training Institute, Mumbai, and has conducted Yoga corporate workshops for MNCs like Hershey’s India Pvt Ltd, Reliance Industries, FMC, and INDIAN Oil.
The amalgamation of her dual Master’s degree in Sociology and History backed by international education and work experience has helped instill strong analytical and critical thinking skills while also developing her interpersonal skills. The dual Master’s degree was conferred to her by the University of Manchester and the University of Mumbai respectively. She accepted the position of lecturer for Mass Media students at ICLES’ Motilal Jhunjhunwala College, Patkar College of Arts and Science, and KES’s B.K. Shroff College of Arts. Her journey as a professional dancer and choreographer is quite commendable with an experience of more than 30 years and rigorous training in Bharatnatyam under the guidance of her Guru Smt Anjana Dongre. Although she holds a certificate in Bharatnatyam from Nrityangana Academy of Fine Arts she has also completed a Diploma in Dance Foundation Course from Terence Lewis Professional Training Institute in Ballet, Jazz, and Contemporary dance forms. She has performed at various prestigious events as well as in the famous Marathi musical show ‘Marathi Bana’ and has also choreographed and trained participants of Femina Miss India 2019. To add to her achievements her work as an actor in the Marathi television industry is worth mentioning along with other screen roles on the Amazon Prime platform and a Hindi play ‘Marching Dead’.
